Chihuly Garden and Glass

The Chihuly Garden and Glass is a museum in Seattle that features the masterpieces of world-renowned glass artist, Dale Chihuly. The centerpiece is the Glasshouse which is a 40-foot tall glass and steel structure. The structure best comes with Chihuly’s botanical garden. Both of which come with striking colors and forms that offer a distinct experience with each season and at different times of the day. If you are left stunned with his glass works, you can go to The Theater to see how all these magnificent pieces come to life. There is also a shop where you can buy handblown glass ornaments and other souvenir items to remember your visit.

Social Housing in Seattle

Another proposal to build social housing is again on the move in Seattle. The project aims to address the growing problem on affordable housing in the city and the rising issue on homelessness. The idea is to create houses that are designed to be permanently affordable and insulated from the private market forces. Currently, there are several funds to support these projects like the housing levy of $290 million coming from property taxes. There is also the Mandatory Housing Affordability that created approximately $96.1 million and Uber also pays $25 million of tax per year. With all these funds, clearly, the problem in Seattle is not the lack of funding but the political will to implement the plans long term. Click here to read more about apartments in Seattle.
